“I’m just here to cause a little trouble.”
She looks at him with a smirk and starts to make her approach.
The shadows follow tight behind her, engulfing the room in eerie darkness.
He grips his sword tight, thinking to himself that this is not what he expected to find.
“Who are you?” He demands, wishing his voice didn’t sound so pathetic.
“Well, I’m Death, silly.”
He tries hard to hold his ground but every inch of him is screaming to run.
He peers into the darkness, trying to get a good look at her, at Death.
Everything he has been taught clashes with everything he is seeing.
“It’s not my time.” He whispers to her, feeling her power creeping over him.
She laughs a dark and menacing crackle that echoes off the walls.
“You fool, it’s never anyone’s time. That’s the fun part of my job. Call it the element of surprise.”
She is finally close enough for him to study her and Death looks a whole lot like a college girl.
Dressed in a black velvet skater dress, with long dark violet hair and black lipstick.
Her stone cold grey eyes locked onto his own green eyes.
“You see, there is a great future in store for you, and I just can’t let that come to pass.”
“No, please, no.” He begs, her stare has him frozen in place.
“Oh Honey, no one can say no to Death. I promise to make it painless.”
Two shadow people materialize from the darkness to stand beside her.
He starts to feel heavy, exhausted like he could just crumple to the floor.
He wants to sleep.
He can hardly keep his eyes open.
He has to though, he knows that if he closes them he will never wake up.
But Death is too strong.
He collapses to the floor as Death fades back into the darkness with a big toothy smile.
He fights to stay awake as he desperately tries to drag himself out of the room to find help.
His vision begins to blur.
He grows too weak to make it any further.
He opens his mouth to call out but it comes out more like a croak.
His eyelids start to flutter when he sees a pair of brown boots running towards him.
“No, no, no Conaway. What happened?” She cries as she kneels beside him, putting a hand on his shoulder.
“Death.” He manages to whisper.
“Help! Someone help us!” She calls out. “Conaway stay with me, okay.”
He hears more heavy boots coming towards them, they will save him, they have to.
He will complete his quest and to do so he has to stay alive.
