Pain

I have started a new challenge for myself. For the month of May, I will be using this word prompt as my guide.

Pain

Sydney tries to find comfort in her routine, keeping her mind busy so it doesn’t drift.

She doesn’t want to be alone with her own thoughts.

It’s the only way for her to keep it all together.

Sydney hyper focuses on school and her job, drowning herself in all her work.

Her friends start to notice her lack of appetite and her unhealthy obsession with her homework.

They ask her what’s wrong and she pushes them away, not wanting to talk about it.

How could she even begin to explain this mess to anyone?

She isn’t sure if she could even explain it to herself.

It didn’t matter anyway, it’s all behind her now, a closed chapter in her life.

Then why couldn’t she stop thinking about it?

She thought this would be easy, less stress, maybe even bring her happiness.

Expect it was the complete opposite.

Sydney had the one chance she was longing for, wishing for, and she blew it.

She was faced with the one question she thought she would never get asked and she said no.

To have Maverick back in her life is all that she wanted.

And when she actually was presented the opportunity to say yes, it caught her off guard.

He showed up in her life completely unannounced and it terrified her.

It’s just like Maverick to do that.

They may be twins but they couldn’t be more different, a planner and a winger.

But he has always taught her that life was to short to plan for every moment.

The pain of saying goodbye is too much, Sydney needs to fix this.
