I have started a new challenge for myself. For the month of May, I will be using this word prompt as my guide.
Nightmares
Maverick hits send on the text message, This isn’t the choice you made.
He hasn’t heard from Sydney in days, even after she made her choice to make amends.
She has every right to change her mind like this so why did he feel so upset at her choice?
Maverick knows he has given her plenty of reasons to turn away from him.
Then why did it shock him so much that Sydney changed her mind?
His phone chimes, his nerves are sent sky high.
It’s the choice that I should have made, Maverick reads and throws his phone onto the bed.
He lets out a frustrated scream.
He is pretty sure that this is the end, that there is no going back from here.
Maverick lost her for good.
How did he let this happen?
He fears to live his life guilt-ridden knowing that this was caused by him.
This is all his fault.
Maverick didn’t know what else to do that would convince her to change her mind.
Again.
He was so close too.
He almost had her back in his life.
He sits down on his bed and turns on the tv hoping for a distraction.
Except his mind wouldn’t step replaying their conversations.
Maverick curls up under his blanket to try and at least get some sleep.
Missing his twin sister who would comfort him when he was plagued with nightmares as a kid.
